Introduction

The Department of Applied Zoology, formerly named as the Department of Invertebrate Zoology, was established in 1961. The focus of teaching and scientific research at the Department is on various aspects relating to invertebrates, including taxonomy, biodiversity, biology and ecology of important invertebrate groups in natural and agricultural ecosystems, as well as in medical research, pest control…

In December of 2017, the Department was renamed the Department of Applied Zoology, to reflect the development of its new research directions, in which basic research is associated with applied research, such as biodiversity research for conservation planning and conservation of biological resources, biological control of harmful organisms, control of alien invasive species, etc.
